The Hawk's Nest - Part 6

1. Goatwhore - Carving Out the Eyes of God

Straight-up, in-your-face, Satan-loving black metal with influences of death metal, sludge, and hard rock music. This band is so much fun to listen to.

2. The Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal

By far the best album this band has released, in my opinion of course. They expanded their sound a little more on this, completely dropping the metalcore influences and adding a little bit of a black metal influence, which can be heard most clearly on the title track. Trevor, the vocalist, is one of my favorite singers/screams/whatever in metal.

3. Corrupted - El Mundo Frio

If you haven't heard of Corrupted...kill yourself. Just some more of their brand of funeral doom/drone/post-rock (which really came forward with this album). Not too much else to say. This is probably their best album.

4. Horrendous - The Chills

Coming out within the first week of the new year, we already have a candidate for the best death metal album of 2012. Horrendous' first full-length album, The Chills, is reminiscent of early Swedish death metal bands such as Entombed and At the Gates. Really great stuff here.

5. Immortal - All Shall Fall

Again, not too much to say about this one because all fans of metal should know of this band and what they're about. All Shall Fall is Immortal's first album since their reformation and it doesn't disappoint. Continuing the same black metal/thrash metal formula as the three albums that preceded it.
